Shelter fathers connect with their cultural past through practice of imu April 29, 2013

On Wednesday, April 17, 2013 and Thursday, April 18, 2013, Native Hawaiian fathers from the Onelau‘ena Homeless Shelter took part in PIDF Ka Pa‘alana’s imu project. The workshop, which teaches Hawaiian values through the imu experience, gave these father an opportunity to connect with their cultural past, while cooking pua‘a to be shared with family and guests at a shelter event that same afternoon. The imu project served as one of several larger group events for these fathers, who have spent weeks participating in mentorships and classes focused on responsible fatherhood.
