Pili the ‘Iwa Bird Flies Again November 1, 2010

After Kai the ‘Opihi Gets the Point, and Mele the Crab Finds the Way Out, this is the third in a series of stories about ocean animals, the life lessons they learn, and the importance of strong inter-generational relationships.

Pili the ‘Iwa Bird Flies Again! is the story of how a young ‘iwa bird (a Hawaiian Great Frigate Bird, Frigata minor) learns an important life lesson.

Pili’s grandfather (tūtū kāne in Hawaiian) reminds her that the true essence in life does not lie in having possessions, but rather in being content with what she was created to be. Pili listens to her grandfather and the joy and freedom she once had return.

Come join the celebration at the book launch of Pili the ‘Iwa Bird Flies Again! on Thursday, November 11, 2010 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Barnes and Noble, Ala Moana Shopping Center.
