Partners in Development Foundation raises $2683.00 for Hawaii Foodbank October 2, 2009
On Saturday, August 29, 2009, the Hawai‘i Foodbank (HFB) celebrated its 5th annual Hunger Walk sponsored by Harry C. and Nee Chang C. Wong Foundation. The annual walk is a fundraiser for Hawai‘i Foodbank member agencies that feed the hungry through food pantries, feeding programs, homeless shelters, rehabilitation centers and soup kitchens. The walk also serves to raise awareness of hunger in Hawai‘i. HFB partners with over 250 agencies (including the Partners in Development Foundation) to feed 131,862 people statewide, including 32,965 children and 14, 504 elderly.
This year, 58 agencies participated to meet and exceed the event’s $100,000 goal by raising a total of $101,045.83.
Congratulations and mahalo to all of you for your generosity and hard work with soliciting donations and pledges. The Partners in Development Foundation brought in $2,683.00 and raised an additional $668.12 in matching funds from the Hawai‘i Foodbank for a total of $3,351.12 that will go directly to PIDF’s HFB account to help feed the hungry and homeless encountered in the Ka Pa‘alana Mobile Preschool & Homeless Outreach Services program. Additional contribution from the Harry C. & Nee Chang C. Wong Foundation in the amount of $670.00 raised the final total to $4021.12!
In addition, Partners in Development Foundation–Ka Pa‘alana earned the title of “Highest Participation by an Agency” for this year’s Hunger Walk. This distinction would not have been possible without our PIDF ‘ohana’s participation foundation-wide. We know many of you donated to fellow walkers, and many staff and their families participated in the walk.
The next Hunger walk will be in the month of August 2010. We hope to have your continual support and participation to help raise much needed funds to feed the hungry and homeless.
