Partners In Development Foundation (PIDF) has received $250,000 from the Department of the Interior (DOI) to mentor a new Micronesian advocacy group: We Are Oceania (WAO). This new group will focus on creating a one-stop resource center for COFA migrants to help make transitioning into the U.S. a little easier. The center will operate out of the St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church where Rev. David Gierlach has been a major advocate for Micronesian people in his community.

Over the next three years, we hope to train Josie Howard (Director) and Keola Diaz to establish their organization as an official nonprofit that will one day run its own programs and services. “I am so proud that the Hawaiian culture and our struggles have helped Josie and her colleagues to understand that they have the same struggles,” said Jan E. Hanohano Dill, President of PIDF.
