New Preschool Classrooms For the Homeless Dedicated May 4, 2010
Partners In Development Foundation’s (PIDF) Ka Pa’alana Program blessed their new pre-school classrooms for the homeless at Kalaeloa.
Utilizing “Yurts”, a modern adaptation of an ancient shelter used by nomadic tribes of central Asia, these new facilities provide a comfortable and spacious environment for our keiki and their families. The blessing was done by the Rev. William Kaina. Many PIDF employees, supporters, and partner organizations attended the celebration which took place on April 21st 2010.
Mahalo to the State Department of Human Services (DHS) and Wai’anae Community Outreach (WCO) for the use of the land; the Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA) for the funds to purchase the Yurts; Mr. David Wong Jr. of Mountain View Dairy and his employees for constructing the facility; the ‘Onemalu shelter for it’s close partnership and participation; and Kamehameha Schools for it’s strong support of Partners In Development Foundation and its programs.
