Kama‘ehu students again recognized for student achievers March 3, 2011

On March 2, 2011, Kama‘ehu was once again blessed as Jatery J. (2nd grade) and Andrew S. (5th grade) were both honored at an assembly as the “Jet of the Month” for their classes at Barber’s Point Elementary School. The award, based on a student’s performance in several categories, is given as a means to encourage students to focus on others as well as themselves, and to take on tasks without being told. In addition, students must also be proficient in their academics and maintain high scores in all their subjects. Jatery and Andrew did just that, and were recognized by their teachers and fellow classmates last month. Congratulations Jatery and Andrew!

In addition to recognizing Jatery and Andrew’s accomplishments, the school also acknowledged Lindsey L. as a high scorer in the “Accelerated Reader” program. The Accelerated Reader Program can only be accessed online; each student has until 3:00 p.m. to log on to the website and complete tests based on books that the student has read. What makes the achievement so significant is that Lindsey was able to complete her tests and score high despite having to share computer access with other Kama‘ehu students and having very little time during program to dedicate to each test. Kama‘ehu is very proud of Lindsey, our first Accelerated Reader.
