Ka Hana No’eau Student/Mentee Wins High Jump Competition June 13, 2010

Ka Hana No’eau mentee Kelson Kawai won the High Jump competition at last month’s State Track Meet becoming the State Champion in that event.

Measuring in at 5′ 7″, his winning jump of 6′ 6 ” is 11 inches higher than his overall height. Quite a feat.

Kelson was a mentee with Mentor Bronson Fuertes’ Saddle Making group for the past 4 years, and expanded his knowledge this year by joining Mentor Michael Salvador’s Small Engine Repair group.

His track coach is our own KHN mentoring Science Teacher and former Mentor in the area of Bio-Tech Tissue Culture and Robotics, Ms. Maria Bunyi. Our Maria stands at tall at 5′ 1″.

Kelson incredibly defied the “laws of gravity” with positive
thinking and applying the “power of mental imagery.”

Congratulations to Kelson, his parents, and all of his ohana for supporting of this upcoming and future leader.
