‘Ike Ea in North Kohala December 28, 2009

The ‘Ike Ea Program continued its goal of teaching Engineering and Electronics at Kohala Elementary School on the Big Island. 5th Grade students were taught from December 7th to the 17th. Daily hands-on activities such as, popsicle stick bridge building with a 50 lbs. load test, egg drop, circuits and model house wiring, helped reinforce the concepts learned during the lecture part of the course. A total of three classes with a total of 67 students participated in the program. Students were recognized with their efforts with a certificate and goody bags.
A total of seven schools were taught the first semester of school year 2009-2010. The program will continue once classes resume after the winter break in January 2010.
