Hōkūleʻa Mahalo Tour December 18, 2017
The Molokaʻi Tūtū and Me Traveling Preschool (Kaunakakai Site and Kualapuʻu Site) had an opportunity to tour the Hōkūle’a while it docked at the Kaunakakai Harbor.
After returning home from their Worldwide Voyage, Hōkūleʻa has been visiting ports around the Hawaiian islands. The purpose of their tour is to show their appreciation for the support they have been given throughout their voyage and to share with the communities the lessons they have learned.
Keiki and caregivers were welcomed with lots of aloha from Aunty Penny and Aunty Donna. Uncle Ghandarva taught the families about the different winds using a giant colorful compass.
Finally, all were able to step aboard the Hōkūleʻa and was greeted by “Captain” Uncle Lohiao. He shared about Hōkūleʻa and life on the Hōkūleʻa while sailing around the world. Keiki got to hold the main paddle and test out the beds. Many of the families were happy and thankful for the opportunity to step foot on the Hōkūleʻa. Mahalo Hōkūleʻa for sharing your journey with Molokaʻi and the world!
