Community organizations and businesses provide holiday cheer through Laulima Giving Program January 15, 2014

The families and keiki of Ka Pa‘alana are used to overcoming challenges in their lives; many of them have persevered through financial, physical, and emotional hardships and have learned to count their blessings. And because of their experiences, our families are often focused more on helping others than themselves. But thanks to the Laulima Giving Program many of our families and keiki were able to receive rather than give.

This past Christmas, several community organizations and businesses joined together through the Laulima Giving Program to make the holiday season that much brighter for our families and keiki.

“The Laulima Giving Program (many hands working together) brings companies and individuals together to help needy families in Hawaii. Keiki O Ka ‘Āina partners with KHON2 to assist struggling and underprivileged families, elderly and individuals including children with special needs, families affected by incarceration and single parents through donations of goods, cash equivalents, enriching experiences, and advocacy.”

Mahalo to the following organizations for taking part in this year’s Laulima Giving Program and blessing our families and keiki through their generosity:

Hawaiian Cement

Toshiba Corporation

Waipahu Intermediate

Keoneula Elementary

“I can’t express in words how much joy and happiness you have given to me and my family this Christmas. Although times are hard all around, you have gone way above and beyond our expectations of what was in store for us. And even though I have nothing to give in return, I hope you will accept our appreciation for making this Christmas so much brighter! Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts.”
