Come Fly with Tūtū and Me! May 17, 2010

Our Tūtū and Me Hualalai site of Kona was invited to attend a rare and specially arranged field trip by one of our parents who is a helicopter pilot instructor. We visited and explored the Mauna Loa Helicopter School as an extension to our study of transportation in January. The keiki and their caregivers were allowed the opportunity to take action in flying a helicopter in a state of the art, computer generated flight simulator along with going out on the tarmac and sitting in an actual pilot seat. We learned hands–on how to operate a training helicopter and Cessna aircraft and what kind of skills and training it takes to become a small aircraft pilot.

Mahalo to ‘Ohana Fouts for making these wonderful learning experiences possible and a success for all of us.
