We Are Oceania
PIDF is proud to announce that their mentee organization, We Are Oceania, established independence as a 501(c)3. We are excited to maintain a close partnership and see the development of the organization as they continue to serve the Micronesian community.
We are so proud of our mentee program, We Are Oceania’s Executive Director, Josie Howard, who was selected for Hawaii Business Magazine’s “20 For the next 20,” honoring people whose talents, accomplishments and potential set them apart as emerging leaders of Hawaiʻi for the next 20 years.
Since the onset of the pandemic, PIDF jumped in to help close the gap between those who have access to resources and those who don’t. This PSA shares PIDF’s outreach and ways to support our communities.

In addition to their one-stop shop that offers food, health, housing, employment assistance and more, WAO Provides Covid-relief resources like a live helpline to Micronesian and Pacific Islander Communities.
The 4th annual Micronesian Youth Summit hosted hundreds of middle and high school students and featured workshops to support their future success.
A rally at the Hawaiʻi State Capitol building kicked off 2020 Census activities for the year and highlighted the importance of an accurate count.
The 7th annual charity Curling Tournament by American Savings Bank Hawaiʻi raised $100,000 for We Are Oceania.
For the last 3 years, We Are Oceania has put on a Micronesian Youth Summit to empower Hawaiʻi’s Micronesian youth and to show them how they can navigate success.
This week, representatives from the U.S. Census Bureau paid a visit to We Are Oceania (WAO). The reps arranged a sit-down with Partners in Development Foundation (PIDF) and WAO leadership.
Partners in Development Foundation is saddened by the death of Dr. Joakim “Jojo” Peter, a founding member of We Are Oceania (WAO) and a vibrant leader in Hawaii’s Micronesian community.
We Are Oceania (WAO) hosted the 3rd annual Micronesian Youth Summit on March 9th. The event saw over 300 Micronesian youth in attendance, along with many others from the community that came to speak to the youth about their culture, their lives, and their futures.
