Nā Pono No Nā ʻOhana
When we think about the names of the many places around us, there’s a story behind each one of them. Throughout Hawaii, there are so many special places that have been given new names over the years and we often forget about the history and culture behind them.

Childhood obesity is a growing problem across the state of Hawai‘i. It is also a preceding indicator to the development of a multitude of chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.
The staff of Nā Pono No Nā ‘Ohana was recognized today for their 100% participation in contributing funds to the 2012 Aloha United Way General Campaign.
Nā Pono No Nā ‘Ohana’s new school year began with over 100 families attending OLA Days – (`Ohana Learning Activities).
From September 7, 2011 to September 9, 2011, and again from September 14, 2011 to September 16, 2011, PIDF’s Ka Pa‘alana, Hui Nohona, and Nā Pono No Nā ‘Ohana hosted the entire sixth grade class from Kamehameha Schools during a three-day imu and team-building/service learning workshop.
Nā Pono No Nā ‘Ohana (Family Education) program has been housed at Blanche Pope Elementary School for 10 years. The Families in this Education and Literacy program were super excited to find out the library was going to get a much needed makeover.
Families at Nā Pono No Nā ‘Ohana (Family Education) participated in a fun and educational summer program. The emphasis was on learning about sustainability by participating in ocean activities.
Nā Pono No Nā ‘Ohana -Family Education families and staff participated in the PHOCUSED rally – advocating for increased investment in health and human services.
Staff members of Nā Pono attended a ½ day — cultural (Professional Development) conducted by Tiare Agpaoa (Cultural Apprentice).
Nā Pono No Nā ‘Ohana (Family Education) – treated all their families and the homeless on Waimanalo Beach to a traditional holiday kalua Turkey.
Keiki from Nā Pono No Nā ‘Ohana enjoyed playing in 6 tons of snow at Blanche Pope Elementary School.
