Ka Hana Noʻeau

On Saturday, December 18th, members of Ka Hana No’eau’s mentorship program piled into vans and drove up to Saddle Road in search of ohia lehua, or liko, to create wreaths for the holidays.

AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination and its mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society.

On July 30, 2010, the students of Kama‘ehu got a surprise visit from Ka Hana No‘eau.

Ka Hana No’eau sent their graduating seniors on a Hawaiian cultural excursion on the Island of Oahu.

Ka Hana No‘eau’s 2009-2010 hula mentorship group danced for Luke’s Grand Opening and blessing. Luke’s restaurant in Hawi is now under new ownership and had requested that our group perform after the blessing.

Ka Hana No’eau mentee Kelson Kawai won the High Jump competition at last month’s State Track Meet becoming the State Champion in that event.

Ka Hana No`eau held the last Ohana night of the year featuring our Culinary Arts and Animal Husbandry groups.

Our event entitled, “Ka Ulu Ana: Securing our Future,” is a food resilience project featuring a chicken cooking challenge: The Chicken Wok-out and the Best Salad Contest.

Ka Hana No’eau announces an upcoming event that is happening at the Kohala Intergenerational Center in North Kohala on February 6, 2010 from 10:00 to 3:00 p.m.

All fun was to be had at the Ka Hana No‘eau’s holiday party on Dec. 18, 2009.

Ka Hana No`eau is presenting a food reliance project with a food challenge “Chicken Wok Out!” on Feb. 6th from 10:00-3:00.
