Calling 9-1-1 November 16, 2012
Ho‘omaika‘i to our Community Helpers and a special salute during Fire Prevention Month to our firefighters. Our Hale‘iwa site was fortunate to have the Waialua Fire Station firefighters visit and teach our keiki some basic fire safety tips. Remember-Stop! Drop! Roll! As an added treat, Waialua keiki got to shoot water from the water hose, just like real firefighters.
The firefighters from the Nu‘uanu Fire Station visited our Pauoa keiki. As a part of the sharing for both sites, firefighters explained their uniforms and showed them how heavy, but important, their uniforms are. Their presentation showed everyone how scary the head covering and entire outfit looked; but the firefighter inside this bulky safety gear is always trying to save us from harm. They taught each of us the importance of remembering the 9-1-1 phone number!
Mahalo to our ever ready firefighters who do so much to help and save people in our communities. Mahalo also to all community helpers who serve, volunteer, work and educate us to make our lives happy and safe.
