Back to School Bash provides families with food, fun, and much-needed school supplies October 5, 2012
On August 11, 2012, the residents and staff of the Pai‘olu Kaiāulu Emergency Shelter in Wai‘anae came together at their annual Back to School Bash. June Ho‘opi‘i, Ka Pa‘alana Preschool Teaching Assistant and a member of the shelter’s resident council, helped organize the event, which brought together 186 shelter children and adults for a day of food, fun, prizes, and a giveaway of much-needed school supplies.
The resident council is responsible for planning events that foster healthy family interactions, and by the looks on the faces of all those involved, the Back to School Bash was a huge success.
