Recognizing International Volunteer Day 2018

2018

Today is International Volunteer Day! Join us as we celebrate the individuals who help to give a voice to marginalized and vulnerable groups, helping #LeaveNoOneBehind.

International Volunteer Day (IVD) is an annual day mandated by the United Nations General Assembly since 1985. It promotes volunteerism and encourages governments to support volunteer efforts in their own countries.

IVD also stems from the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, targets set to deal with global issues like poverty, hunger, health, and access to quality education.

This year's theme is 'Volunteers Build Resilient Communities', which recognizes volunteers worldwide while putting a special focus on local community leaders.

"Healthy and Resilient Communities" is part of our primary mission with all of our programs -- from feeding communities with our Natural Farming program to serving homeless and at-risk families with Ka Paʻalana.

If we give people the tools to succeed, they will in turn be better stewards of their own communities.

How can you help build resiliency in your community?
