Ka Pa‘alana parents give back to community
Ka Pa‘alana - (Mon) December 15, 2014
The mission of Partners in Development Foundation – to inspire and equip families and communities for success and service using timeless Hawaiian values and traditions – seems appropriate when sharing what the preschool parents at Ka Pa‘alana’s Hale Wai Vista site did for their less fortunate counterparts living on the beach.
During a recent sewing class, in the midst of sewing baby blankets for their own keiki, several of the parents asked if the children living on the beach needed blankets. When Ka Pa‘alana staff affirmed that there was a need, the parents decided that they wanted to sew as many blankets as they could. In total, the parents were able to sew 22 blankets – not an easy feat considering they had no experience using the sewing machine when the class started.
Thanks to the giving spirit of these parents, 22 children will have blankets sewn with aloha this holiday season.
