Tech Together visits students at Halau Lokahi

Tech Together - (Fri) December 12, 2014

Students at Hālau Lōkahi are participating in a ten day S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) program put on by our Tech Together program. These fields boast  high-paying well-respected careers, but Hawaiʻi continues to lag behind the nation in these areas. It’s difficult for teachers to get the necessary resources to excite the students about these subjects, and thats where Tech Together steps in to fill the gap. We believe that success starts early, and by increasing the skills and learning of young children and their caregivers, we can impact school and family success throughout Hawaiʻi.

Today, the class learned about hydroelectricity, wave energy, and the importance of clean water. Each student constructed a water purification device using different aggregates for filtration. The children are excited and look forward to using their filtration devices at home.
