A Year of Hope and Blessing for FAC October 4, 2017

On Thursday, September 28th, Catholic Charities celebrated their one-year anniversary at the Family Assessment Center (FAC) in Kaka‘ako, by hosting an ‘Ohana Night for the past and present residents of the center. Families visited informational booths hosted by Public Health Nurses, Touch a Heart, EFNEP, Catholic Charities (Mary Jane House), United Health Care, We Are Oceania, and Kalihi-Palama Health Center.

Ka Pa‘alana Preschool provided cartoon character face painting, fun games, and prizes for both the keiki and their caregivers. There was also a dance contest between the girls and boys who showed a lot of potential to be the next “So You Think You Can Dance?” star. To go along with the movie of the night (Trolls) the children made troll hair using construction paper, glue and scissors. A hearty meal of chicken katsu, fried noodles, salad, rice, vanilla cake, and ʻono shave ice was on the menu. It was a fun-filled event where both present and past residents thanked the many people who helped them along their way to success and sustainability.
