6th Grade Kamehameha Schools Student Hosting Benefit Dinner for Homeless May 1, 2014
After having heard a presentation by “Auntie Anna”, a recipient of the services provided by our Ka Pa’alana homeless program, Samantha Kau’ilani Nakagawa, a 6th grade student at Kamehameha Schools Kapālama campus decided that she would organize and host a benefit dinner for the homeless as her 6th grade service project.
She has posted a “Kokua Fundraiser Benefit Dinner” event, to be held at the Keku’iapoiwa Dinning Hall – Kamehameha Elementary School Saturday, May 10, 2014 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Following is her online invitation:
Please join me, Samantha Kau’ilani Nakagawa, in my efforts to raise money to support Ka Pa’alana (Partners in Development Foundation).
When Auntie Anna came to our school and told us of the hardships her ‘Ohana has endured and how Ka Pa’alana helped them, I wanted to help too. As a 6th grader at Kamehameha Elementary, I am asked to pick a service project for my social studies class. When Auntie Anna told us her story it touched my heart and something in me was called to action!
The lesson I learned, was that ANYONE can end up homeless depending (on) their circumstances.
Please join me and my fellow classmates for dinner, entertainment by the (KES Choir) and PRIZES!! We will be giving away an iPad mini, Consolidated movie 4-packs, Kamehameha Schools logo items, gift cards and much, much more! We will even have some craft booths with some really cool stuff! Please join us at my paina and support a worthy cause.
If you can’t be here to join the fun, please kokua and make a monetary donation. Every little bit counts and is much appreciated. Everyone who buys a ticket has a chance to win prize. Mahalo Nui Loa!!! Aloha ahui hou a me malama pono!
